Alex's Schedule
Alex graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in
Applied Mathematics. In the summer of 2003 he began tutoring with an agency called
Math is Magic, where he still sees students today. While gaining work experience as a
recruitment coordinator for youth adventure jobs, an engineering technician for a civil
engineering firm, a robotics instructor, a mathematics classroom specialist and a substitute
elementary school teacher, Alex always continued seeing private students. 19 years later, Alex still sees
many private students. As of November 2021, Alex began a CTE teaching license, and accepted a position
teaching Graphic Design at Springfield High School in Springfield, Oregon.
Since the summer of 2013, Alex has been a summer and after-school robotics instructor when not
tutoring. He began teaching robotics for the city of Eugene recreation department, and he now
leads an after-school robotics enrichment class at Oak Hill Elementary in south Eugene.
Alex still teaches robotics and graphic design in the summers at Oak Hill. Alex is passionate about
science, and he is an advocate of having STEM topics introduced into early elementary education.
When Alex is not teaching Graphic Design or STEM classes, or geeking out on Astronomy, he might be found playing
trumpet in one of four bands, social dancing, working on graphic design, dabbling in website authoring, teaching
mural workshops, backpacking or playing ultimate frisbee.
